New Jersey governor election results: Democrat Mikie Sherrill is projected winner in governor's race
Democrat Mikie Sherrill is projected to win the New Jersey gubernatorial election against Republican Jack Ciattarelli. As of 9:30 p.m. with 63% of the expected vote reporting, Sherrill holds more than a 14-point lead -- 57.0% to 42.4%.
New Jersey's governor election is today, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, with the latest polls in the governor race predicting Democrat Mikie Sherrill will win over Republican Jack Ciattarelli, although recent polls show NJ could flip red should Ciattarelli have a strong showing similar to the 2021 election.
Polls in New Jersey and Connecticut are open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. while polls in New York City are open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.

The governors race in New Jersey has tightened in the runup to Election Day, but Democrat Mikie Sherrill still maintains her lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli.
In his first Truth Social post commenting on the election results, Trump suggested that the reasons why Democrats won is because he was not on the ballot and because of the government shutdown. Trump has repeatedly blamed Democrats for the shutdown despite Republicans controlling both chambers of Congress and the White House.
