Getty will give Perplexity "access to high‑quality and differentiated creative and editorial imagery to create a richer visual experience," the companies wrote in the release, while Perplexity will improve how it displays images, linking credits back to their sources, "to better educate users on how to use licensed imagery legally."

Perplexity will display pictures from Getty Images across its AI search and discovery tools under a multi-year deal that sent the visual content company's shares 5% higher on Friday. The deal marks the latest in licensing tie-ups between AI startups and digital platforms,

US media company Getty Images largely lost a case it brought against a British AI firm over use of its copyrighted content without permission, a court in London said on Tuesday.
