The Grand Egyptian Museum has taken 30 years to become a reality, but finally opened its doors, with an equally grand opening ceremony.

The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, Egypt, is one of the world's largest and opened on Saturday after decades of delays and a cost of more than $1 billion.

A main draw of the GEM will be the entire contents of the intact tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time since it was found by British Egyptologist Howard Carter.
